Opening hours
Police stations are often open day and night. However, certain departments have specific opening hours, in which you can submit a request personally (hours open to the public). These opening hours differ from the office hours (time in which the office is staffed).
For example: An office is staffed Monday till Friday from 7:30 till 15:30, but the hours open to public are only Tuesday and Thursday from 13:00 till 15:00.
Immigration authorities
Immigration authorities are the competent authority for non-Austrian citizens until a legal length of stay up to six months. The corresponding legal regulation is the Act of Immigration Authorities.
District commissions and municipal authorities are the competent authorities for longer stays of non-Austrian citizens. The corresponding legal regulation is the Settlement and Residence Act.
